Little Rickie Santorum Wants to be your Morals Police Chief!

When you consistently poll in the 2% or less crowd, the so-called bottom tier of candidates, it seems your primary objective is to get attention.  Little Rickie does this one of two ways: advocating the bombing of more brown people, or advocating the imposition of a federal morals code.  He favorite talking point is from the tyrant Lincoln that “the states do not have the right to do wrong”.  While Little Rickie can’t even get the quote in the right context (see:http://www.thelibertypapers.org/2011/09/27/rick-santorum-revives-the-lincoln-douglas-debates-unwittingly-takes-douglas-side/) he nonetheless is using this to argue against the Tenth Amendment, while at the same time supporting the Tenth Amendment:

“I have been a long-time advocate for states’ rights,” said Santorum in response. “However, I believe as Abraham Lincoln did — that states don’t have the rights to legalize moral wrongs.

So the obvious question is, who’s moral code do we use to hold up against federal action?  I find drunkenness immoral, shall we return to Prohibition?  I find adultery immoral, shall we pass a federal law and return to stoning?  I find greed immoral, shall we return to a 90% top marginal rate?

The answers are self evident.  Liberty should ensure anyone can do anything as long as it does not effect the life, liberty or property of another.  All else are laws of imposition attempting to change behavior and are futile.
